feeling guilty about lacks of communications... [19 Apr 2008|01:17pm]
So, as long as I am actually on-line...
The
Still out here in Chicago.  Still living with Clint.  Our roommate, Brandon, has moved out to Madison, WI.  THis means we now have a guest bedroom (hint hint...visitors?)

My friend Jen is getting married and has managed to put both her bachlorrette party and her wedding day on the two Threads games I was going to go to this year out east.  *Sigh*  Well, since I am in the wedding, I guess I am MN bound instead.

I just tradedd in my old Maxima for a 2004 Mini Cooper.  It is a ton of fun to drive and get great gas mileage.  Since I am still working pretty far north, I needed something that I wouldn't have to fill up all the time.

I have been slowely cleaning the apartment.  It got kinda bad for a couple weeks but it is livable again.  Just need to tackle the bedroom soon.  And maybe finally get the freshwater fish tank finally looking good.  Otherwise, the rest of the pet are good.  The chinchillas are curently rampaging about in their balls, smashing into things and the giant lizard of doom is trying to escape.

Hmm...anything else?  Not that I can think of right now.  Oh!  But I have fund a good little irish bar in Evanston with wonderful food.  And with the weather being gorgeous, they have the big pen patio windows open.  Much love.

I've been yelled at... [23 Jul 2007|01:35pm]

I've been yelled at for a lack of posting so I figured I'd do a life update from the wilds of Chicago.

Well, the sad news is that my grandmother passed away.  I flew home for her memorial service.  My grandfather took it hard since it happened a couple weeks before their anneversary.

A smaller death occured a couple days ago.  My little dwarf hamster Angry died.  I got him short after moving in with Clint into our apartment on Roscoe and its kinda wierd that he passed away just before we're moving out of that apartment.  But realistically the average life span for those little guys is only a two years and that's where he was at.

Speaking of moving and pets, I am moving.  We officially took control of our new apartment on saturday but we still have till the 31st in our old place.  Saturday was all about moving the fish tank.  We've upgraded, since we're movin, to a 120 gallon tank.  That was a 12-hr long project.  Sunday we moved over the hedgehog, the lizards and the chinchillas.  The new place has a den and all the animals except for the fish are in there.  Its like our our own little zoo.  We also decided that Clint's tv just wasn't fitting real well in the new living room so we plunked down some cash and bought an 8 ft screen and dug up the porjecter we were using in the basement.  Sunday we hung the screen and we have an awesoem t.v. set up.  We stayed up with Brandon, Matt and Jenn till 1 am last night watching Evolution and drinking champaigne last night.  The other T.v. is going into Clint and me bedroom.  We took on a roommate too.  Our friend Brandon.  This week we will be moving some small stuff over and maybe the cats.  The Saturday we have movers coming over to take beds, dressers, and boxes galore over.  If I remember, I'll be over there tonight and will try to take a couple pics for people who want to see.  We are moving slightly farther north so my commute is probably losing at least 20 minutes one way.  That alone makes it all worth it.

Oh, and my poor phone died.  So I decided that the new phone was going to be indestructible.  No fancy camera phones of MP3 players for me.  Nope, I got the phone that was up to military specs.  Though it does have a GPS so I really don't have an excuse for being horribly lost anymore.

Hmm...other things...Erik, while working at Shell got attacked by a Lovebird that he adopted and took home.  Now he's trying to decide what to do with it.  Its nice to know I'm not the only one who find random animals and has to save them.  Though he's worried about when he goes to school again here.  I may be getting the bird.  Should be interesting given lovebird's attachment issues.

Work is getting into our busy season and I have gone through 3 assistants in that many months.  I loved my first two but they found other jobs.  Well, technically, I had Yanelli for three months, Irene for a week and now have had Beatrice for about a month.  I miss Yanelli and have to try and go visit here sometime here.  But please don't feel neglected if I'm not online.  I'm working 10-11 hr days right now and its been crazy.

Alright, I can't think of anything else of interest going on right now.  I think we bought plane tickets to play SiS over Labor day.  Otherwise, sometime here I wanna make a trip oput to the RenFest and maybe a couple other chicago festivals.  We'll see if i can manage it.  I think a lot of my weekends are already spoken for.  Blah!

After a long hiatus...my life. [29 Mar 2007|10:46am]
[ mood | bored ]

So here's the bullet points on life.

The zoo has grown.  It zoo includes two saltwalter tanks, a fresh water tank, a hedgehog (William the Bloody), and dwarf hamster (Angry), two urimastix (lizards - Dusty and Lefty), a crested gecko (Seth), a striped gecko (Stripes), two chichillas (Crowley and Azraphale), two cats (Daniel and Sabrina) and a black & white tegu (lizard - as yet unnamed).  Thus, one of my current projects is building the chinchillas a bigger cage.  Its huge!  3'x2'x5.5'.  And it is mostly done.  I need to put wire one about three more sections and the put in perches for the guys to jump on.

I am headed to MN for Easter.  My mother wants me there just in case my grandma doesn't do so hot.  On the other hand, the very fun werewolf game I am in is having one of their big event thingers and if you want to hang out in Chicago with Clint and play, they are looking for NPCs.  I can garuntee it will be a blast.  Just to let you know what kind of cluster fuck the PCs are in, some of the NPCs they are looking to fill are Black Spiral Dancers, Mages, and Fae.

Still in Chicago.  Signed my lease for a second year even.  Just had my 6 month anneversary of quitting the Korean mob.  Yay!

My brother was here about a week ago for his spring break.  It was cool to have the kid around but it sucked that I had to work and couldn't see him a lot while he was here.  But I dragged him around to yummy food places and the garou game.

Taxes are going to kick my ass.

Alright, that is about all I can think of right now.  I'll try and work on this whole updating more often thing.

Weekend update... [15 Jan 2007|03:14pm]
[ mood | blah ]

So this weekend was fun.  Friday night I went to the Buffy sing a-long at the Musicbox with a ton of people.  It was hilarious.  If they come to your city, I totally recommend it.  Especially all of you Rocky fans.

Saturday Clint left for Madison and I spent the day playing video games and doing laundry.  Laundry which hadn’t been done in a while and really did take all day.  I cleaned up after the rodents as well.  Sunday was very much the same, only minus the laundry and more time spent reading.  All in all, it was a productive and anti-social weekend, something I’ve been needing for a while.

Now, its back to work, where it has been snowing all day.  Nothing too bad but enough to make the roads slick.  Luckily it’s a holiday and the roads weren’t that bad.

LJ Year in Review... [29 Dec 2006|03:51pm]
January 2006
Mouse Thrown Into Fire Sets Home Ablaze

February 2006
life as it stands
So, while reading Elizabeth's journal I decided I should probably be a good little livejournaler and actually write something.

March 2006
InterCon
So this weekend was a lot of fun, except for some issues with American Airlines.

April 2006
Trauma
So Clint got tickets to the Hawks hockey game at the United Center against the Detroit Red Wings.

May 2006
Soda Distributors to End Most School Sales
This is so stupid. Ignoring the fact that most public schools use pop sales as an additional way to make money so they aren't completely dependant upon taxes and federal grants, they're replasing pop with "sport's drinks"!?!

June 2006
Gah. This has been a busy week for me.

July 2006
So I had this really wierd dream the other night

August 2006
Let the cleaning begin...
So, last night I got home and Clint and I headed to Home Depot.

September 2006
weekend update
So, this weekend was nice. It kind of started on Thursday night.

October 2006
Here at work.

November 2006
HI!!!
So I'm alive still. And as of yesterday, I am the proud owner of a hedgehog.

Decemeber 2006
Well, I made it to work today. It took an hour and a half though. Blech. Stupid blizzard.

Success! [27 Dec 2006|04:52pm]
I survived Chirstmas in MN! Woot!

A three hour delay in my flight out to MN meant i wasn't at my parent's till 3 am. Luckily, Saturday was a fairly relaxed day. Mom, Erik and I had dinner and Erik and I went last minute shopping that night while Da was out with his old friend who was in from China. Sunday consisted of going to church, then Karen and Dean's to see their family, and then to Paul and Mary's for dinner. Then Christmas day my Mom's side came to the house. Tuesday I actually did a quick load of laundry before packing everything back up and catching my flight home at 6 pm. That flight was only delayed a half hour or so. Ray, Clint and I all ran over to Melrose for dinner once I got back to the apartment. I think Ray was headed back to WI today to water his plant so Clint and I probably have the apartment to ourselves again.

And that means its a short work week for me. I am almost out of her for the day. Only another hour or so. Friday night I think I'm going to go punch some new holes in myself to welcome in the new year. Saturday I think Clint and I are meeting up with JR and Heather and playing in a casino all night as part of their new years eve eve tradition. New years eve will start at Jeff and Christy's for dinner and then we are buggering out to Jim and Briget's to celebrate and watch movies and such.

Monday, I am sleeping.

Holiday Meme [20 Dec 2006|11:12am]
[ mood | amused ]

Welcome to the 2006 Holiday Edition of Getting to Know your Friends!
You know the drill.

1. Eggnog or Hot Chocolate?
Hot chocolate, please. With real milk, a shot of mint and whipped cream.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
Presents are always wrapped, even if its only in a blanket...

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
I kinda like the white. Especially with the snow.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
If I ever find some, yep.

5. When do you put your decorations up?
If they go up, its usually the day after thanksgiving because that's when I have the most time.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish?
Pumpkin pie.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child?
I remember sleeping in front of the fire place waiting for Santa and decorating the inside of the tree with my brother.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
Can't remeber exactly when but it was my parents who sat me down and told me. I remember making the jump from Santa not being real to the Easter bunny not existing either. I remember them telling Erik though. They made the mistake of telling the kid on April first and he yelled April Fools at my Mom and then ran off giggling about the silly joke Mom tried to play.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
If we can convince people.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
I like to pick a couple colors and decorate the tree that way. This year we have red and gold.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? I
love it despite the occasional grumblings.

12. Can you ice skate?
No. I seem to remember falling on my face a lot...

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
Not really. Every year we got great stuff. Last years though had to be my guitar.

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you?
Its a good reminder who you love and what's important.

15. Is Christmas religious for you?
Yea. A lot of it isn't but Christmas is a reminder of some of my beliefs and why I belive in them.

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Day after Thanksgiving shopping with Erik

17. Which do you prefer giving or receiving?
Both

18. What is your favorite Christmas Song?
Carol of the Bells

19. Candy Canes!
Blech. No.

20. Favorite Christmas Movie?
Burl Ives' Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer

21. Tree real or fake?
Fake. I've only had a real tree once and that was because some of the trees at my paren't were growing too close together. It was fun but a lot of work. Though now that I have a Christmaass tree lot literally across from my front door, its very tempting.

Gotta love any guy that, when you walk into apartment after a long sucky day, hands you a set of new video games he just bought and tells you to sit on the couch and play.

Whining... [14 Dec 2006|05:03pm]
[ mood | annoyed ]

This is whining. Please skip.

I'm feeling really crabby today. It started last night when I was talking to Clint about a game we are both sorta in. Then this morning I woke up two hours early with my throat raw and cramps (A week early, damn you body!!!). I finally got back to sleep but all day I've really hated people to the point that when another player of the game sent me an e-mail I had to reign in some nasty comments and have just kept really quiet so as not to snap at anyone at work. As it is, I'm guessing by the fact people are staying away from me, I'm giving off all sorts of bad vibes.

I am NOT SOCIAL. And I really do hate people. I just really want to not deal with them for awhile. Clint is about the only person I can stand right now and I feel bad because I know I'm on the verge of raving bitch mood. Not really fit company. Especially anyone happy/cheerfiul. I kinda want to rake out their eyes...

Meh. And I could go into it all in great detail but not on anything as public as lj and I'm pretty sure I've already done all the ranting in my head several times.

So....yea. If I snap at you, I'm appologizing in advance.

Alright, I need to go back to work. Maybe try and get out of here a little early.

You scored as Faerie. Faerie: Aren't you a cute little flying person? Faeries are earth spirits. They live among each element completely hidden. They have cousins called Pixies. Pixies however, are very mischevious. They enjoy tormenting other creatures for fun. Little pranksters.. I hope you never meet one. Pixies have a bad reputation for finding a creature and clinging to them until death. Faeries can be somewhat close to a Pixie, but mostly they are loving, playful, and carry with them a child-like enthusiasm for life. Hide among the pedals of a Daisy, you are a Faerie.
